United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged the United States and Iran to end the current outbreak of fighting and resume talks to end the conflict.
Specifically referring to the latest US attacks on Iran this week and the latter's strikes on ships in the Strait of Hormuz and US allies in the Gulf region, Guterres said in a statement on Sunday: "These attacks must stop."
Kuwait 's Defense Ministry said on Sunday that an oil company employee had been injured in a drone attack which has been claimed by Iran.
"Three land border posts in the north of the country were subjected to a cowardly attack, resulting in material damage," read a ministry statement, without specifying the origin of the assault.
It added that an "offshore drilling platform belonging to the Kuwait Oil Company" was targeted by a "hostile drone," resulting in "material damage" and the "injury of one worker."
Simultaneously, Iran 's Fars news agency reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had launched a drone operation targeting US rocket launcher systems in Kuwait.
Iranian media reported further explosions on the country's southern coast on Sunday evening, following a third wave of US strikes overnight.
State news agency IRNA described "hostile attacks" and several detonations in the port city of Bandar Abbas.
IRNA also reported that more than ten projectiles had struck the strategic island of Qeshm in the Strait of Hormuz .
"Between 10 to 11 enemy projectiles have struck Qeshm Island since Sunday afternoon," Hossein Amir Teymouri, governor of Qeshm township, told the IRNA state news agency, adding that "all of the targets were military" and that there had been no casualties.
Qeshm is largest island in the Persian Gulf is home to about 150,000 people.
The pro-government news agency Mehr reported that the head of the Hormozgan province's telecommunications authority had been killed on Qeshm, although it wasn't immediately clear when.
A US official told the Associated Press (AP) that strikes had been carried out against missile and air defense systems, as well as against small boats used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) at several locations around the strait.
He said the aim was to further degrade Tehran's ability to attack commercial shipping in the key waterway.
Asked by US broadcaster NBC News about the status of the Strait of Hormuz , Trump said the passageway is "open."
In a separate interview with US outlet CNN, Trump said Iran was hit "very hard last night."
The US president claimed that the US and Iran had been close to a "deal" on Saturday.
"They were giving up everything, and then all of a sudden two hour after they hit a ship with a drone. These people, there is something wrong with them," Trump said.
US Central Command, in a statement, said "traffic is flowing" in the Strait of Hormuz, contradicting Iran's assertion that the maritime passageway is closed.
"The Strait of Hormuz is open to all vessels seeking to lawfully transit the international waterway," US CENTCOM said in a post on X.
"US forces are positioned and prepared to ensure that freedom of navigation remains available despite unwarranted Iranian aggression, harassment, threats, and arbitrary declarations," CENTCOM added. "Iran does not control the strait. Traffic is flowing."
The Sultanate of Oman said it is summoning the Iranian Ambassador to Oman Mousa Farhang over Iranian attacks on Omani territory.
A statement from the Omani Foreign Ministry said it handed over a note of protest to the ambassador over Iranian drone attacks in the Omani Al Batinah and Musandam regions.
