U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday warned of economic consequences against any country that supported Tehran or provided "any type of lifeline to Iran."
"ANY country that allows its financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities to provide any type of lifeline to Iran will itself face TREMENDOUS Economic Consequences," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
He did not specify what specific steps Washington would take against such a country and did not list any country by name.
"This will be an ECONOMIC D-DAY, and we need all of our Allies to stand with the United States of America to isolate, and defeat, the Iran threat," he wrote on Truth Social.
Trump also said - again, without specifying what steps he would enact - that he was announcing "the MOST CRUSHING ECONOMIC OPERATION EVER TAKEN AGAINST ANY COUNTRY! This will be Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale."
The U.K. has strongly condemned the Israeli government's publication of a tender for the E1 settlement project and summoned the Israeli chargé d'affaires in protest.
