Tesla ( TSLA ) is facing a federal investigation into a fatal car crash in Texas, in which the driver claimed that Tesla's full self-driving (FSD) was engaged. Yahoo Finance Senior Autos Reporter Pras Subramanian chats with Yahoo Finance's Julie Hyman about what we know so far.

Tesla is facing a a federal inquiry into a crash that happened in Texas where the driver actually drove into drove drove into a house and and killed someone, resulted in the death of someone. The driver said FSD was engaged.

The company has said they it wasn't. So, I mean, but this but but this is the latest in a sort of string of of these types of investigations.

Right. It's this one's really interesting because it, you know, on the face of it, there's really uh compelling video showing the car flying into someone's home at over 70 miles per hour in a in a in a suburban residential type setting. It just doesn't seem right.

And you see that and you hear about how the driver said that he was had engaged the either autopilot or FSD and this happened. And then Elon Musk responded to it and said, this is crazy, we would never have a car go that that at that high speed in a residential setting.

And then Ashoka Luswami who runs Tesla AI, said looked in the data and said, uh, it's it seems that the the driver overrode the FSD and pushed the accelerator and the accelerator was pinned when the car hit hit hit the uh building.

Maybe meant to hit the break, who knows what happened.

Who knows, but yeah, who knows, right? So that's what they're saying, right? That's that's exactly right. What if actually the car started going uh acting erratically, the driver freaked out, tried thought he hit the brake but hit the gas and that's why it was at 70. Who knows, right? So that's going to be investigated in the Nits sort of inquiry. But yeah, just another sort of

black eye here in the full self-driving autonomous world with regard to Tesla who's trying to push their FSD to as many cars as possible.
